Abstract
The synthesis of sodium cerium oxide NaCeSO42·H2O from cerium oxide CeO2 in sulfuric acid solutions with addition of Na2SO4 was examined at elevated temperatures using a batchtype glass reactor under atmospheric pressure Na2SO4 concentration sulfuric acid concentration and reaction temperature were chosen for the factors and the effect of three factors on conversion of CeO2 into NaCeSO42·H2O in sulfuric acid solutions was investigated The conversion includes two chemical reactions CeO2 dissolution and NaCeSO42·H2O precipitation It was found that the increase of Na2SO4 concentrations and sulfuric acid decreased the conversion rate whereas the conversion rate increased with increasing reaction temperature
