Abstract
After a Sect 11 devoted to electrical conductivity and a section that deals with magnetic and dielectric losses 12 this chapter explores the theory of thermal conduction in solids The examined categories of solids are metals Sect 132 Dielectrics Sects 133 and 134 and Nanocomposites Sect 135 In Sect 136 the problem of thermal and electrical contact between materials is considered because contact resistance occurring at conductor joints in magnets or other high power applications can lead to undesirable electrical losses At low temperature thermal contact is also critical in the mounting of temperature sensors where bad contacts can lead to erroneous results in particular when superconductivity phenomena are involved
