Abstract
HorstGünter Krenzler conducted and steered trade negotiations on behalf of the EU for a long time After his resignation from the European Commission he continued to be closely involved in matters concerning the Union’s common commercial trade policy both as a professional and academic until his untimely death There is no doubt that he would have been intrigued by the ongoing attempt of the EU and the US to build a more integrated “transatlantic marketplace” by concluding a transatlantic free trade agreement hereinafter FTA With this in mind the following observations will address the current negotiations between these two global trade players and focus specifically on the regulatory aspects of these negotiations
