Abstract
In The Resegregation of Schools Education and Race in the TwentyFirst Century editors Jamel K Donnor and Adrienne D Dixson provide empirical research showing how the guarantee of Brown v Board of Education 1954 to provide equal access to quality education has since been systematically dismantled by racist institutionalized practices racist policymaking and minority classes’ disparate experiences Each chapter addresses different aspects of this dismantlement and these aspects culminate to show that we currently live in a resegregated and postracialized society or in other words a society that believes that it has overcome racial inequity These chapters use different critical theories of race and social inequality to identify causes of resegregation and its effects on youth of color This anthology’s goal is not only to identify the causes and effects of resegregation but also to arm researchers and educators with strategies that in part combat disparate effects of
