Abstract

In this paper we present a theory for the existence of multiple nontrivial solutions for a class of perturbed Hammerstein integral equations Our methodology rather than to work directly in cones is to utilize the theory of fixed point index on affine cones This approach is fairly general and covers a class of nonlocal boundary value problems for functional differential equations Some examples are given in order to illustrate our theoretical resultsThe authors would like to thank the anonymous Referee for the careful reading of the manuscript and for the constructive comments This paper was partially written during the visit of G Infante to the Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale e Scienze Matematiche of the Università Politecnica delle Marche G Infante is grateful to the people of the aforementioned Dipartimento for their kind and warm hospitality The authors were partially supported by GNAMPA—INdAM Italy
