Abstract
Paper microfluidics play an increasing role in biomedical research This interest is attributed to the technological simplicity the considerably lower costs compared to other fabrication approaches as well as good compatibility with many bioanalytical procedures A paperbased analytical device can be developed and modified relatively fast its fabrication typically does not require any sophisticated facilities and highly skilled personnel Therefore paper microfluidics can be well applicable in resourcelimited settings complementing and in some cases even replacing the traditional bioanalytical tools
