Abstract
BACKGROUND AND METHODS When patients undergo cutaneous surgery the physician must decide whether to stop anticoagulant and/or antiplatelet therapy and face possible thromboembolic events or to continue treatment with blood thinners and face possible intraoperative and postoperative bleeding A search of the English literature up to October 2003 was conducted to locate articles relating to perioperative use of blood thinners in dermatologic surgery Also to determine potential adverse effects of warfarin therapy operatively and postoperatively the investigators evaluated 68 patients of their patients who were receiving warfarin for various conditions and underwent cutaneous surgery between
