Premature Tooth Eruption in Cebocephalic Fetus

Abstract

Premature eruption of teeth occurs in 1 of every 2000 births 1 The reported association between natal teeth and serious rare inherited syndromes suggest that particular caution should be exercised in examination of newborns that have prematurely erupted teethCebocephaly which occurs in 1 of every 2500 autopsies consists of a phenotypic syndrome of multiple congenital abnormalities 2 One report found that 36 of cebocephalic fetuses had abnormal chromosomes and that trisomy 13 was the most common of these 3 The coincidence of both congenital abnormalities observed in our case is the third in the available literature 4A 2350g stillborn female infant was born at 36 weeks to a gravida 1 para 1 mother of 31 years old The father was 33 years old The parents were healthy and unrelated and reported no exposure to known environmental teratogens Karyotypes of the parents were normal Karyotype of the baby revealed trisomy 13
