Abstract

A 23yearold man height 191 cm weight 100 kg was found dead in his flat lying in a prone position in his bed He had suffered from tuberous sclerosis since birth with severe epileptic seizures Therapy with Vigabatrin made him free of seizures from the age of 10 years Sixteen months before his death nightly seizures had reappeared with convulsions of the facial muscles accompanied by vocalizations and vomiting He also suffered from a borderline syndrome depression with selfinflected incised wounds and he had been abusing cannabis and alcohol since 14 years of age A medicolegal autopsy was performed to clarify the cause of death and to rule out third party involvementExternal examination showed intense nonblanchable livor mortis on the front of the body with numerous postmortem ecchymoses On the inner side of both forearms there were several scars of parallel incised wounds up to 5 cm in length Examination of the brain revealed a lightbrownish lesion of
