Abstract
For any positive integer r denote by mathcalP r the set of all integers gamma in mathbbZ having at most r prime divisors We show that C mathcalP rmathbbT the space of all continuous functions on the circle mathbbT whose Fourier spectrum lies in mathcalP r contains a complemented copy of ell1 In particular C mathcalP rmathbbT is not isomorphic to CmathbbT nor to the disc algebra AmathbbD A similar result holds in the L 1 setting
