Abstract
The 2014 Technology Transfer Society 3day conference was held in Baltimore Maryland from Oct 23 to 25 2014 This year saw 71 presentations in three parallel tracks out of 120 initial submissions Fifteen papers were subsequently submitted to be considered for publication in a special issue of the Journal or as a chapter in a volume of the Johns Hopkins University Research Series on Innovation and Entrepreneurships published by Edward Elgar PressThe theme of this year’s conference is the business of translation in which a subset of presentations explored how scientific discoveries are translated into commercial applications Sung et al 2008 Presentations included case studies and theoretical and empirical models of the factors affecting discovery translation organizational structures and processes the macroenvironmental and policies and governance arrangements related to technology transfer In 2011 the National Institutes of Health created the National Center for
