Abstract
In patients who have undergone cardiac surgery treating acute postoperative pain appears to be the most effective method of reducing the risk of developing chronic pain A combination of opioids and paracetamol acetaminophen is the most commonly used analgesic regimen However treatment should be individualized and take a stepwise approach with dosages increased and more medications added when necessary
