Abstract

Transfusion Syphilis Presented by Dr V C GarnerĀ  This white boy aged 10 years was brought to the University Hospital dispensary on Jan 19 1934 because of motheaten alopecia of several weeks duration and a patchy depigmentation of the neck leukoderma colli There was a history of an emergency transfusion in June 1933 for possible poliomyelitis or transverse myelitis The donor was a brother aged 22 who had had no Wassermann test prior to transfusion Later examination of the donor revealed a history of penile lesions in 1932 with local treatment only When examined at the University Hospital on January 22 he gave a strongly positive Wassermann reaction The patient gave strongly positive reactions to the Wassermann Kahn and Kline precipitation tests
