Abstract

With an ad hoc previously validated clinical record we analysed the headache characteristics in 245 patients F 784 M 216 mean age 431±129 years affected by chronic daily headache CDH attending 9 Italian headache centers Migraine without aura was the episodic headache preceding CDH in 723 of the cases We divided CDH into 3 categories chronic tensiontype headache CTTH chronic coexisting migraine and tensiontype headache CCMTTH and chronic migraine CM CCMTTH accounted for 465 of the cases followed by CM 302 and CTTH 233 Female prevalence was more marked in CCMTTH and CM groups in which episodic headache started earlier Migraine without aura was the episodic headache preceding CDH not only in most cases of CCMTTH 830 and CM 919 but also in 25 of CTTH patientsBy submitting a comment you agree to abide by our Terms and Community Guidelines If you find something abusive or that does not comply with our terms or guidelines please flag it as inappropriate Please note that comments may be removed without notice if they are flagged by another user or do not comply with our community guidelines
