Abstract
The polysilsesquioxane coatings were synthesized via the sol–gel reaction of methyltriethoxysilane MTES 3glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane GPMS and tetraethoxysilane TEOS using different kinds of acid such as phytic acid 1hydroxyethylidene11diphosphonic acid tannic acid and hydrochloric acid as the catalysts and investigated by 13C NMR 29Si NMR SEM electrochemical techniques and saltspray test respectively It was found that four different acidcatalyzed polysilsesquioxanes were mainly composed of T2 and T3 structure but different acids caused some differences in reaction mechanism and the relative ratio of T2 to T3 structure The catalysis of phytic acid caused more complete polysilsesquioxanes which had much better corrosion resistant performance than the other three acidscatalyzed polysilsesquioxanes
