Abstract
MCM41 materials were modified with Cr Fe Co and Ti by the wet impregnation method Various techniques including ICP XRD N2 adsorption UV–Vis DRS and TPR were employed for the catalysts characterization The Acid Orange 7 AO7 degradation in aqueous solution was studied over the synthesized photocatalyst under UV–Vis and visible radiation The Cr modified catalysts exhibited the major activity under UV and visible light Particularly the Cr/MCM41 sample reached a dye degradation of around 81 in visible light being the Cr6+ species primarily responsible for this photoactivity Upon the loading of TiO2 the searched heterojunction effect between chromium and titania species was not observedGAE SGC and KS CONICET Researchers VRE and E GV CONICET Doctoral Fellowships This work was supported by the CONICET UTNFRC and SecytUNC of Argentina The authors are grateful to “Grupo de Ciencia de Materiales” from FAMaF for enabling us with the registration of the XRD patterns and to INTeC from UNL for the UV–Vis DRS spectra
