The contradictoriness and ambivalence of truth values in Kafka’s text The Great Wall of China cause astonishment and uncertainty to the reader The article explores four factors which contribute to this reaction the multilayered temporal structure the relation between reflection and narration the deconstruction of coherence and the infinite shift of meaning
