Abstract
Digital inline holography and digital image plane holography DIPH are applied for the study of the droplets generated by a microdispensing device This microdispenser provides droplets whose diameter can be changed by varying the pressure applied to the reservoir containing the substance to be atomized The droplet diameters measured with both techniques show good agreement in the range between 10 and 20 psi The diameter increases with the pressure and so does the dispersion Droplet velocity has been measured with DIPH at 10 and 20 psi It was found that the velocity increases linearly with the droplet sizeThis research was supported by the Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología DPI200306725C0202 and by the Diputación General de Aragón GIA T63 Tecnología Óptica Laser Virginia Palero has been supported by the Secretaría de Estado de Universidades e Investigación del Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia of Spain PR20050255 The support of this research by the Australian Research Council through an ARC Discovery grant is gratefully acknowledged
