After a chapter on logical form chapter 2 argues that the quantifiers of firstorder logic should be understood in a Meinongian fashion as extending to nonexistent objects Using standard nonMeinongian quantifiers we render the sentence ‘Some monkey devours every craisin’ where ‘craisin’ is a word for an imaginary nonexistent fruit in terms of the true formula ‘ exists textxleft textMx wedge forall textyleft textCy to textDxy right right
