Abstract
Nondissipative classical continuum mechanics in both Eulerian and Lagrangian formulations is extended to complex fluids and complex solids The extensions involve extra fields characterizing microstructure preserve the Hamiltonian structure of the classical theory and are rigorously derived from Hamiltonian formulations of the particle mechanics and statistical mechanics
