Abstract

This is one of the technical symposia held during the TMS 2015 144th Annual Meeting Exhibition on March 1519 2015 at Orlando Florida FL USA The symposium was organized by Jiawei Mi of University of Hull and Dmitry Eskin of Brunel University UK with the sponsorship from TMS Light Metals Division Materials Processing and Manufacturing Division Aluminum Committee and Solidification CommitteeIn addition a total of 21 technical manuscripts were submitted to this symposium Through a peer review process 12 of them were accepted to publish in the TMS Supplemental Proceedings and 9 of them were selected to publish in Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A
