Abstract

It is a great pleasure to release this latest issue of IJHBT Our journal has already started 2015 on clearing nearly all the backlog articles that had accumulated since 2010 This was done with the help of a large onlineonly issue of case reports in addition to two megaissues I had been contemplating this step since taking over as the EditorinChief but must acknowledge that it would not have been possible without the active support of the Executive Committee of the ISHBT who ratified the bold decision the Organizing Committee of the Haematocon 2014—Hyderabad who bore expenses for publishing the Conference Proceedings and Abstracts issueThere have been other changes in the journal as well To expedite functioning the number of Associate Editors of the IJHBT has been increased to sixteen in December 2014 The board is now staffed by wellregarded doyens as well as enthusiastic younger members They all contribute immensely to the journal and represent a broad range of experiences subspecializations and worksettings The Editorial Board is working extremely hard to reduce the turnaround time for the first decision on a manuscript along with the timelag between the acceptance of a paper and its appearance online A rigorous plagiarism check system is also being put in place For the first time to acknowledge the tireless efforts that are put in by our reviewers we honored three of them at the Annual Conference at Hyderabad by a Best Reviewer Award that will become an annual featureHopefully this year the impact factor of the IJHBT will climb higher and we will move closer to our goal of becoming an authoritative scientific voice To ensure our success in this competitive environment we need to enhance the quality of our articles mainly by increasing the proportion of original research papers Doing so will also increase the number of citations generated for the journal’s articles In this sense to promote the journal I would request the members of the ISHBT and the entire Indian hematology community to submit their valuable research to the journal Your contributions in terms of reviewing papers in a timely thorough and fair manner are also solicited
