Abstract
Based on the crosssensitivity shown by certain metal electrodes for some anions in a liquid media an array of five potentiometric electrodes Au Ag Pt Cu and Zn has been used as an electronic tongue device for the recognition and prediction of common anions chloride sulfate and bicarbonate in mineral waters The recognition testing studies included measurements of potential emf on solutions of pure salts mixtures of salt and some mineral waters Predictions were performed by using partial least square A good discrimination between different water samples by PCA analysis was found as well as an adequate prediction of the concentration of chloride and sulfate
