Abstract

Findings suggest a need for individual and resourceoriented concepts of care in home settings Participants rate exercise professional and social support as well as selfefficacy as important resources in diabetes management Barriers such as lacking acceptance of the disease problems in adjustment to a new diet as well as utilization of diabetes education in the daily routine cognitive impairment and impaired perception of physical changes such as neuropathy were identifiedThe study was carried out at the University of Osnabrueck Faculty of Human Sciences Department of Public Health and Nursing Science Germany No external grants supported this study The authors would like to thank all interviewees participating in this study
