Form Factor for a Compressed Cylindrical Sample

Abstract

We present results of the calculation of the form factor for a cylindrical sample in a linear formulation of the theory of elasticity which takes into account the influence of the size of the sample and the Poisson’s ratio on the actual measured modulus This allows one to more accurately standardize the method of measuring the elastic modulus of materials excluding the dependence of measurement results on the dimensions of the sample
