Abstract
This study investigates a new method of silicagold core–shell nanoparticle SGNP synthesis using copper anode slime as a secondary source of gold Thiourea can form cationic complex with gold in gold extraction process of copper anode slime Silica nanoparticles were used as cores and their surface was coated by a cationic goldthiourea solution The electrostatic interaction between negatively charged silica surface and positively charged cationic gold solution leads to formation of core–shell nanostructures directly Thiourea acts as ligand and forms hydrogen bonding with silica surface group XRay patterns as well as wavelength dispersive spectroscopy WDS maps of silicon and gold elements for synthesized SGNP particles confirm complete formation of core–shell structuresAuthors would like to thank staff members of department of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering of Amirkabir University of Technology Tehran Polytechnic for supporting this research and Iran National Science Foundation INSF for financial support Grant number 90004760
