Abstract

The increasing number of powertrain variations like frontwheel drive allwheel drive mechanical allwheel drive electrical hybrid electric and battery electric drive on a vehicle platform is leading to a rise in system complexity GKN has developed a modular axle concept in order to reduce the associated efforts The aim is to enable a costeffective differentiation of the drivetrain using a high number of the same components for the entire mechatronic systemDrivetrain options are becoming more diverse For the task of developing a costeffective modular axle drive for Allwheel Drive AWD hangon drives GKN initially created a requirements catalogue This catalogue is based on subjective experiences customer requirements market studies benchmarking and load spectrum data from various AWD vehicle classes By this GKN defined the fundamental requirements as well as other optional requirements for an AWD hangon driveline The following
