Abstract
The scanning vibrating electrode technique SVET has been used to study the insitu corrosion phenomena on AA2024T3 aluminum alloy Three distinct sequential stages of corrosion attack with time on the alloy have been revealed 075 75180 min and after 180 min The increase and decrease in the intensity of the anodic activities at the surface of the alloy which give a corresponding increase and decrease in the net current density values with time are responsible for the stepwise changes in the corrosion stages The work also revealed mild etchlike attack regions on the surface of the alloy after the immersion test
