Abstract
A twodimensional phenomenological theory of the negative glow is developed regarding a longitudinal magnetic field negative ions and an attachment term linear in the plasma density Solving the diffusion equation by separation we can compute the change of plasma density and plasma efficiency with the magnetic fieldThe influence of the longitudinal magnetic field on the parameters of the cathode fall is considered At a given discharge voltage the growth of plasma efficiency a boundary condition of cathode fall with the magnetic field causes a diminution of the length of the dark space and an increase of the discharge current
