Modelling and Analysis of Ωshaped Double Negative

Abstract

A novel Ωshaped double negative DNG materialassisted microwave sensor is presented and modelled using a full wave electromagnetic commercial simulator CST Simulating results show that the amplified evanescent wave is sensitive to the permittivity of dielectric material in the detecting zone Meanwhile mechanism of the evanescent wave amplification is explained Comparing with conventional microwave resonant sensor the Ωshaped DNG materialsassisted microwave sensor allows for much higher sensitivityThis work was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China grant no 60861002 the Research Foundation from Ministry of Education of China grant no 208133 the Natural Science Foundation of Yunnan Province grant no2007F005M Research Foundation of Education Bureau of Yunnan Province grant no 07Z10875 the State Key Program of National Natural Science of China grant no 50734007 and the National Basic Research Program of China 973 Program grant no 2007CB613606
