Abstract

The review summarizes recent experimental results in the field of THz gyrotrons developed for various applications A CW gyrotron with the operation frequency of 026 THz has been successfully used for DNP spectroscopy A pulsed highharmonic Large Orbit Gyrotron LOG with the frequency of 055 THz and kW level of output power has been used for THz breakdown and obtaining dense plasma in gases A powerful pulsed 067 THz/200 kW gyrotron is under development for remote detection of ionization sourcesThe authors are deeply grateful to many their colleagues from the IAP RAS and collaborators from the Institute for Research in Electronics and Applied Physics University of Maryland especially to Professor V Granatstein and Dr G Nusinovich Research Center for Development of FarInfrared Region University of Fukui especially to Professors TIdehara and TSaito for numerous helpful discussions and realization of common projects in the field of THz gyrotron development and applications
