Abstract
The influence of the fuel supply and fuel injection systems on a vehicle’s driving characteristics should not be underestimated LMS uses an analytical model of the entire fuel system from the fuel pump to the injectors to determine the possible sources of noise and vibration in this areaThe present study took place on a vehicle at the preproduction stage The assessment of noise of the vehicle revealed that the fuel supply and the fuel system were the sources of two distinct noises The lower frequency noise 1 is in the 100 to 125 Hz frequency range and is qualified as “blub” noise present at engine idle speed of around 800 rpm and identified to be transmitted through the fuel supply line to the cabin The goal of this paper is to show how lumpedparameter model approaches were used to reproduce the fluid dynamic behaviour in order to understand the origin and the transmission of the “blub” noise
