Abstract
Modelbased engine calibration is becoming increasingly important in the development process of gasoline and diesel engines The engineers are required not only to have expert knowledge of the physics of the engine but also to understand the methods involved This also has an impact on teaching The following report shows how students in the Master’s degree programme at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences HAW are being prepared for work in engine calibration and function development and how these subjects have been integrated into their course
