Abstract

Seven patients were found dead following overdose or intoxication by amlodipine dextropropoxyphene duloxetine fluoxetine gabapentin hydroxyzine mirtazapine oxycodone tramadol venlafaxine and/or zolpidem not all details of drug administration statedA 28yearold man who had a history of substance abuse schizophrenia and abuse of his mothers oxycodone was found dead He had appeared drowsy the evening previously Autopsy revealed urinary retention and marked pulmonary vascular congestion suggestive of CNS depression Tests revealed an oxycodone concentration of 025 mg/L in peripheral blood and a 3mg gastric concentration Accidental acute oxycodone intoxication was determined to be the cause of death
