Abstract
Laparoscopic sacral colpoperineopexy LSCP involves posterior graft extension to the perineum for improved posterior support The objective of this study was to determine whether posterior measurements differed between those that had graft extension done abdominally ALSCP or abdominovaginally AVLSCPFollowup was 6 to 12 months There were no differences between ALSCP and AVLSCP for any vaginal measurements or stage of prolapse P 005 Although not statistically different ALSCP patients had lower rates of mesh erosion and dyspareunia P 005 AVLSCP patients had fewer prolapse symptoms P = 001 but both groups had similar surgical satisfaction P = 08Dr Patrick Woodman is a speaker for Pfizer New York NY and Astellas/GlaxoSmithKline Deerfield IL and has a research grant from Women’s Health and Urology/Ethicon Somerville NJ and Dr Douglass S Hale is a consultant for Women’s Health and Urology/Ethicon Somerville NJ an investigator for Allergan Irvine CA and has previously received honoraria from American Medical Systems Minnetonka MN
