Abstract

The minimum inhibitory concentrations MIC for 100 strains ofStreptococcus agalactiae varied as follows ampicillin 01 to 1 mg/l amoxicillin 003 to 05 mg/l cephalexin 2 to 16 mg/l nitrofurantoin 8 to 64 mg/l suphadiazine all 500 mg/l and trimethoprim 39 to 250 mg/l The MICs of the βlactams were not affected by inoculum density Amoxicillin was 25 times as active as ampicillin Sulphadiazine and trimethoprim acted synergistically and the average factor of potentiation exceeded 59 The growth curves and drug susceptibilities of 19 strains isolated from urine were similar to those of the 81 strains isolated from other sourcesDie minimalen Hemmkonzentrationen MHK für 100 Stämme vonStreptococcus agalactiae variierten wie folgt Ampicillin 01 bis 1 mg/l Amoxicillin 003 bis 05 mg/l Cephalexin 2 bis 16 mg/l Nitrofurantoin 8 bis 64 mg/l die MHK von Sulphadiazin lag für alle Stämme bei 500 mg/l die MHK von Trimethoprim bei 39 bis 250 mg/l Die MHKs der βLaktame wurden von der Inokulumdichte nicht beeinflußt Amoxicillin besaß die 25fache Aktivität von Ampicillin Sulphadiazin und Trimethoprim wirkten synergistisch mit einem durchschnittlichen Potenzierungsfaktor von über 59 Die Wachstumskurven und Antibiotikaempfindlichkeit der 19 Urinisolate waren mit denjenigen der 81 aus anderem infektiösen Material isolierten Stämme vergleichbar
