Abstract
This monograph recognizes that the critically ill patient with a septic abortion is a major challenge to the attending physician the house staff and nursing service Failure to appreciate the problem in a specific case or to understand the pathophysiologic processes involved with resulting delay in treatment or inappropriate therapy can be lethal for the patient For this reason the author has appropriately emphasized the early diagnosis and aggressive management of septic abortionThere are in addition to chapters on the diagnosis and management of cases of infected abortion separate ones on endotoxin shock anerobic uterine infections pelvic thrombophlebitis and acute renal failure Each subject is approached from the viewpoint of the clinician
