Abstract
In some 14 of patients with a ruptured spleen the onset of the hemorrhage is delayed days or weeks after the initial injury This syndrome is of clinical significance for the patient may later present with a variety of confusing signs and symptoms Four patients presented with this syndrome and exhibited a mass in the left upper abdominal quadrant variable anemia bone marrow findings of erythroid hyperplasia and absent iron stores ahaptoglobinemia abnormal radioisotope spleen scans and xray films of the abdomen
