Abstract
We have observed frequency upconversion in Cs vapor The pulsed pumping laser beam of 7672 nm was converted to simultaneous collinear ultraviolet and blue radiation of wavelengths 3877 and 4556 nm respectively doubleline frequency upconversion We examined properties of this upconversion such as energy efficiency and pulse widths An infrared laser of ~24 μm was successful in modulating the laser beam of the frequency upconversion The modulation shifts the wavelength of the blue radiation and the intensities of both the blue and ultraviolet radiation At nanosecond grade such modulations are expected to have applications in nearinfrared upconversion and optical communications
