Abstract

The cosmicray bursts of about 11 000 events have been measured at 20 m we underground for an observation time of 29587 h by means of scintillators with the very large area of 8 m2 Following the usualChristy andKusaka’s analysis a burstsize spectrum can give an energy spectrum of muons From this series of experiments it is concluded that the obtained muon energy spectrum at incidences with zenith angles larger than 70 degrees is consistent with the one calculated byAllen andApostolakis and that the energy spectrum at vertical direction is given up to 4000 GeV The latter is compared with the energy spectrum obtained by a simple extrapolation of observed momentum spectrum byHaymanet al using the magnetic spectrograph and with the energy spectrum calculated from the energy spectrum of γrays in the high atmosphere Also the interrelation of the burstsize spectrum and the rangespectrum of muons underground is discussedSi sono misurate le esplosioni di raggi cosmici di circa 11 000 eventi a 20 m ae sottoterra per una durata di osservazione di 29587 h con scintillatori aventi l’ampissima superficie di 8 m2 Secondo la usuale analisi diChristy eKusaka uno spettro delle esplosioni può dare lo spettro d’energia dei muoni Da questa serie di esperimenti si è concluso che lo spettro d’energia dei muoni ottenuto per incidenze con angoli zenitali maggiori di 70 gradi concorda con quello calcolato daAllen eApostolakis e che lo spettro d’energia in direzione verticale è dato sino a 4000 GeV Quest’ultimo è stato confrontato con lo spettro dell’energia ottenuto con una semplice estrapolazione dello spettro degli impulsi osservato daHaymanet al usando lo spettrografo magnetico e con lo spettro dell’energia calcolato dallo spettro dell’energia dei raggi γ nell’alta atmosfera Si discute anche la correlazione fra lo spettro delle dimensioni delle esplosioni e lo spettro dei percorsi dei muoni nel sottosuolo
