Lagrangian theory for neutral massive spin2 field

Abstract

Using secondrank tensor field variablesϕ μν and requiring that the theory be derivable from a Lagrangian variational principle and consequentially can be quantized it is shown that the theory is restricted to the case in which the field variables are taken to be symmetrica priori and in which the field equations commutators propagators and energymomentum tensor are uniquely determined although all derived from a singleparameter family of Lagrangians Conventional normalization of the field variable suggests that the propagators currently used in f0meson theory be halved It is not possible as it is in the massive spin1 case to determine the Lagrangian uniquely by postulating conventional canonical commutation relations although the requirement of maximum simplicity in these relations does give a preferred LagrangianFacendo uso delle variabili di campo tensoriali di secondo ordineϕ μν e richiedendo che la teoria sia derivabile da un principio variazionale lagrangiano e sia conseguentemente quantizzata si dimostra che la teoria è limitata al caso in cui le variabili di campo si considerano a priori simmetriche ed in cui le equazioni di campo i commutatori i propagatori ed il tensore energiaimpulso sono determinati unicamente quantunque siano tutti dedotti da una famiglia di Lagrangiani ad un solo parametro La normalizzazione convenzionale della variabile di campo suggerisce che i propagatori usati comunemente nella teoria del mesone f0 debbano essere dimezzati Non è possibile al contrario del caso dello spin 1 con massa determinare unicamente il Lagrangiano postulando relazioni di commutazione canoniche convenzionali sebbene la condizione di massima semplicità per queste relazioni dia un lagrangiano preferenziale
