Abstract

This paper is a review of the recent studies of deformation and fracture behaviors especially the anomalous strainrate effect on plasticity of a 50Mo50Re alloy The ductility of this alloy was found to increase with increase in strain rate within the range of 10−6 s−1 to 1 s−1 at room temperature in air The fracture surfaces in the alloy changed from brittle to ductile in nature with increasing strain rate A damagetoughening phenomenon was also observed in this alloy
