He received his BS in metallurgy from Penn State University and his ScD from MIT He began his US Steel career in 1942 prior to his World War II Navy service After separation from the Navy he was assigned to the Duquesne plant as development metallurgist Occupying increasingly responsible positions he advanced to VPlong range facility planning in 1965 was named VPapplied research in 1968 and appointed to his present position in March 1972
