Abstract
The 313benzoylphenylethyl1Hisochromen1one 2 and their thioanalogues 313benzoylphenylethyl1Hisochromen1thione 3 and 313benzothioyl phenylethyl1Hisochromen1one 5 were successfully obtained in good yield and purity from antiinflammatory drug ketoprofen 1 and its thio analogue 4 The compounds were successfully characterized by FTIR MASS 1HNMR and 13CNMR spectral techniques The in vitro antiinflammatory and antioxidant screening revealed that 313benzoylphenyl ethyl1Hisochromen1one 2 possesses better antioxidant and antiinflammatory activity whereas 313benzoylphenylethyl1Hisochromene1thione 3 and 313benzothioyl phenyl ethyl1Hisochromen1one 5 showed moderate antioxidant activity in comparison to ketoprofen
