Abstract
A novel trisiloxane surfactant butynediol monopropoxylatemodified trisiloxane BMT was synthesized by hydrosilylation Structure characterizations of the BMT were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and 1H 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy The surface activity and aggregation behavior of BMT in aqueous solutions were investigated through the measurements of surface tension dynamic light scattering DLS and transmission electron microscopy TEM The results showed that the critical aggregation concentration CAC and surface tension at CAC of the prepared surfactant in aqueous solutions were 176 × 10−4 mol/L and 264 mN/m respectively DLS measurements and TEM images revealed the existence of spherical aggregates with diameters in the range of 30–650 nm
