Abstract
A novel methodology is proposed for corrosionwear measurement in the Heat affected zone HAZ of 11Cr ferritic stainless steel Weld beads with different stressconcentration were manufactured by using MIG/MAG process After the welded sample is extracted from the plate the beads were bended and external stress was applied Finally they were inserted in ferricchloride solution Corrosive wear were assessed by means of optical microscopy in the HAZ by using polymeric resin mask and comparing profiles before and after inserting the sample into the solution The results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed methodology for assessing corrosive wear in the HAZCarmem Nascimento received her bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering and MSc degree in Chemistry Engineering from Federal University of Campina Grande Brazil in 1993 and 1997 respectively She obtained her Doctor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Federal University of Uberlândia Brazil in 2013 She is an Associate Researcher and Professor at Federal Institute of Maranhão Brazil Her research interests are corrosion mechanisms thermomechanical processes and welding processesSamuel Rodrigues received his bachelor’s degree in Physics at Federal University of Maranhão Brazil in 2011 and MSc degree in Materials Engi neering from Federal Institute of Maranhão Brazil in 2013 He is currently working towards a PhD degree in Materials Engineering at McGill University in Canada He is an Adjunct Researcher and Professor at Federal Institute of Maranhão Brazil His research interests are corrosion mechanisms thermomechanical processes and phase transformation
