Abstract
The recent report on difference in iodine content of salt in different regions of India is very interesting 1 We would like to exchange the ideas from experience of our research group 2 Firstly the quality control of the iodine testing is very important Secondly this kind of study is a survey of iodine hence it does not imply the amount of salt that the local people intake Indeed the amount of iodine intake which is from salt and other foods such as seafood is the direct factor relating to the iodine status of the local population Thirdly based on our finding the salt can be delivered and sold in a distant setting Hence the survey of salt in a setting might not be the representative for that setting
