Abstract
Dear Doctor —We are on the threshold of organizing a local Medical Society which is to be auxiliary to our State Medical Association and as the latter may be considered a part and parcel of the American Medical Association we do not feel disposed or authorized to go into an organization with material at war with the spirit if not the letter of the Code of Medical Ethics as recognized by the National Society Therefore we most respectfully ask you if the following would be suitable material out of which to build up a local organization viz we will suppose a case Dr Wm Blank Physician Surgeon and Aurist Chicago Ill Dr Blank has made all diseases of the ear a study for several years and has gone to considerable expense in preparing himself to treat
