Abstract
We read with interest the recent article by Espinós et al entitled “Early Experience with the Incisionless Operating Platform™ IOP for the Treatment of Obesity The Primary Obesity Surgery Endolumenal POSE Procedure” 1 In this very interesting and first paper the authors analyzed 45 obese patients who had undergone endoscopic treatment with the peroral Incision less Operating Platform™ IOP USGI Medical With this technique transmural plications are placed in the gastric fundus and distal body using specialized suture anchors the Primary Obesity Surgery Endolumenal POSE procedure The authors describe the shortterm 6 months outcome of this procedureWe are aware of the few publications that seem to indicate the efficacy of plicating the fundus or even the antrum of the stomach presumably by activating gastric stretch receptors in response to food or by delaying gastric emptying by interfering with the antral mill contractions Nevertheless we believe that
