Abstract
In this work we present a new approach to obtaining the subband structures of arbitraryshape crosssection quantum wires The method can be implemented for a general band structure thus making it possible to introduce the anisotropic and nonparabolic features of the band into the analysis Finally we compare the results obtained using anisotropic and nonparabolic band models with isotropic and parabolic ones in a triangular crosssection Si quantum wire with several crystalline orientations
